Ingredients for Carob Black Bean Dip

Serves 4*

1 + 3/4 cups cooked black beans
1/2 cup firm tofu
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/4 cup BallıÇubuk carob powder
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 tablespoon sweet paprika
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon cumin

For serving:

Tortilla chips
Potato chips
Crackers
Carrot, cucumber or celery sticks
Toasted bread slices

Preparation

Place the cooked black beans in a blender or food processor.

Add the firm tofu, almond milk, BallıÇubuk carob powder, olive oil, lemon juice, sweet paprika, balsamic vinegar, salt, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper and cumin.

Blend until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.

If the mixture is too thick, add a small amount of almond milk to adjust the consistency.

Transfer the blended mixture to a heavy-bottomed saucepan.

Cook over low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

When the dip thickens and reaches your desired consistency, remove it from the heat.

Transfer the carob black bean dip to a serving bowl.

Serve it warm, or let it cool and serve at room temperature.

You can drizzle a little olive oil on top and garnish with paprika or finely chopped herbs.

Serve with tortilla chips, vegetable sticks, crackers or toasted bread.

Recipe Notes

If using canned black beans, choose a low-salt option when possible.

Drain and rinse canned beans before using.

For a spicier dip, increase the amount of cayenne pepper.

You can replace tofu with a small amount of cooked chickpeas or strained yogurt for texture. If yogurt is used, the recipe will contain dairy.

You can use oat milk or regular milk instead of almond milk.

For a deeper flavor, chill the dip in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.

Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.

This dip can also be used with sandwiches, wraps, roasted vegetables or baked potatoes.
